Lorna’s clients inherited the kitchen some 20 years ago when they purchased the property. It had served them well and was still structurally sound and in good working order. However, as with all oak over time… it becomes aged and yellows with sunlight, which makes it look quite dated.
The client had been discussing with a friend, the options of replacing the existing kitchen, as the friend was replacing theirs. The thought of all the upheaval and cost of replacement prompted them to search for alternatives, not to mention the sacrilege of ripping out such beautiful oak cabinetry and sending it to landfill. The existing black quartz worksurfaces were still in impeccable condition and the units were solid in construction, as you would expect from a Smallbone production, despite its age!
The clients on-line research brought up several companies offering hand painted and spray painted kitchens in the area. However, Lorna’s skill set, experience and knowledge, stood out from the crowd and she was commissioned for this painted smallbone kitchen Hertfordshire, to revive it and add life back into this timeless classic from Smallbone of Devizes.
