When the owners of this 20 year old wooden kitchen in Odell, Bedfordshire approached us about hand painting it, they wasn’t quite sure on the process we use to produce a showroom painted finish that will last the test of time, so before Paul started the job he explained to the client in detail how we achieve such great results, so here we go.

Firstly when a client gets in touch with us via email, we initally ask for photographs of the kitchen showing all of the doors & draws and areas to be painted. From this we are able to give an online quote and if your happy with the quote, we can book you a date in the diary. This particular kitchen is a great advert for what we do on a daily basis, the customers are happy with the build and layout of their kitchen furniture, it just needed updating.

Paul explains the process

Once we arrive on site, we start by numbering and taking off the doors and draws. These are then taken back to the workshop to be thoroughly de-greased, prepped and painted. As this causes a lot less disruption for the customer, also it’s beneficial to producing a first class painted finish to the door or draw when it’s flat on a bench with good lighting in a dust free environment.

Your existing worktops and flooring will be masked and protected prior to any prep work or painting commencing in your home. We go through the same rigorous de grease/clean down on all the kitchen furniture every kitchen we paint, it’s definitely one of the most important parts of any kitchen painting project Next step is the preparation and sanding, we use dust free equipment so that helps a lot to keep the dust to a minimum, the prep work on each individual kitchen varies, from oak, pine, maple wood to vinyl wrap and mdf, or repaints on existing painted kitchens. We have a deep understanding of all the products and paint & materials to use to deliver a suburb hand painted finish. Following the preparation we apply an adhesion primer which adheres to the substrate, this gives an excellent base coat to be followed by undercoats and two top coats of specialist furniture paint in the colour of your choice. Once the furniture paint fully cures the end result is a durable, hard-wearing showroom Painted Kitchen.

Once all the doors are finished and the site work is finished, we refit your kitchen back together checking every door or draw as we go to make sure everything is working as it should be.

As you can see from the pictures the transformation is incredible and above all at a fraction of the cost of replacing the kitchen. We believe this is money well spent.
