Craig has to be one of the most versatile and talented specialist decorators that I have ever come across. A humble man who doesn’t really say a lot but his skill set, knowledge and decorative talents, speaks volumes with this all round craftsman and specialist kitchen and furniture painter.

Craig Hainey – Chapter 1.

Craig’s career in the painting industry began in 1994 at 18 years old, he attended Reid Kerr College in Paisley and completed a 4 year apprenticeship, finishing with a distinction. Learning his trade under the watchful eye of his Father, who ran a well established painting and decorating business in the Troon area of Ayrshire. Craig worked with his dad for 12 wonderful years, covering all aspects of general decorating. Taking over the day to day running of his fathers business for a few years, prior to his retirement.

This is a project Craig worked on in Lorraine Road in the West End of Glasgow, where he restored an Italian Renaissance Lincrusta ceiling. “Lincrusta was the ingenious invention of Frederick Walton, who had pioneered the development of linoleum floor coverings in the 1860’s. Heralded as the first washable wallcovering, Lincrusta was an instant success, replacing painstaking artisan plasterwork and appealing to Victorian England’s tastes because of its sanitary properties as well as its beauty, practicality and durability”. Bespoke Kitchen Painter Ayrshire – Chapter 2.

Craig began chapter 2 when he started up his own business in 2008. Wanting it to be a little more bespoke and concentrate on higher end work which included kitchen and furniture restoration, an Approved installer for Linrusta Wall-coverings, spray painting and all the way to hand painted murals. 

Master Trade Decorator Award Chapter 3.

Since those early days his business has came on leaps and bounds and in 2015 Craig was shortlisted for the prestigious title of Dulux Trade Master Decorator. To his amazement (humbled) he successfully managed to beat of some stiff competition and scoop up the award and title of Dulux Trade Master Decorator.

Craig transforms Yorkhill Hospital’s Physiotherapy Suite

Back in 2011 Craig’s Ultimate Decor had the opportunity to paint an intricate wall mural designed by TV’s Linda Barker. The completion of this highly skilled work, led to Craig Hainey winning the national award of Dulux Master Trade Decorator in a competition run by Dulux Trade.
